With the current pandemic, the state of the music and touring industry has dramatically changed. Where were you when everything was brought to a halt?
I was at home in Ontario, actually. I wasn't sure what to expect but as things unfolded, I decided to make the best of it, by focusing my time on writing and creating. Fortunately, I have a studio in my home, so I was able to work on it, almost daily.
How has that affected your plans for the coming year? Did you have a tour planned, upcoming album release?
I didn't have a tour planned but the pandemic, and subsequent lockdowns became the inspiration for the song I am currently promoting, "Dear Santa... that's enuff".
What have you been doing to fill/make the most of your new-found free time at home? How are you supporting your mental health through all of this?
As mentioned above, much of my time has been spent in my home studio. Being able to continue creating has kept me focused and positive. I also took the opportunity to learn a couple of recording programs that I had been avoiding.
How are dealing with the Covid fifth wave? Have things locked down again in your region? Have you had to cancel gigs, tours, etc.? Are things reopening & restrictions are lifting in your region? Have you booked any new gigs, tours, etc.? What are your plans for 2022?
I'm holding off on booking any gigs or travel. I had hoped we were almost through this but it appears another wave is on our doorstep. New restrictions have been implemented for our region but... as of yet, they don't appear to be too drastic. I have been demoing some songs for my upcoming feature film "Redemption Ridge" and plan to head into the studio, late January, to record with my friend, producer Clint Van Blanken.
Do you have a message for everyone at home reading this?
I hope that you enjoy my song "Dear Santa... that's enuff" and that the message resonates with you. I'd like to thank Eric Alper for helping me to get the song out to people. All the best of the holidays to you and yours. Be kind to one another, we'll get through this. Peace.
